Does anyone know the name/location of the Microsoft Picture and Fax Viewer? I want to associate my scanner with it, and it asks for the .exe location. Any ideas?

As far as I can tell, the file association is to a dll file.

    c:\windows\system32\shimgvw.dll

No need for a second guess, that is the file.

    Perhaps in C:\Windows\System32

Have you enabled the viewing of hidden and system files?

When going through the browse window, make sure under Files of Type it says all files, instead of programs or *.exe.

That would be great, but you only get the option for .exe files...

I doubt you can associate the scanner with the program.

Why are you trying to associate your scanner with Picture and Fax Viewer anyway?

Of course it is your business what you do with your computer, but a better application with which to associate your scanner is Irfanview. It is free and has lots of uses> acquiring scanner is just one of them. You can find it here:
