I would like to keep a log file automatically of any deleted files. How do I do this?

Alright, for the record this is all new to me and I may sound very, very stupid. I set one directory to log deleted files. So I deleted 1 file in the directory I set to audit, and I found that I was to use event viewer to find these events (right?) so I clicked on security and found 12 events, I thought there would only be one, that is that one event where I deleted a file. What's going on?
