I hooked my Logitech speakers to my TV, everything has been fine for three months, just recently they stopped working, my TV is a Toshiba 40RV525R, there is power coming from the speakers but no sound
Any ideas ?
Exactly what do you mean by "there is power coming from the speakers"? I found a one-page setup guide for the speakers that shows plugging the speakers' power cord into an AC outlet but nothing about any kind of power output.
Am I safe to assume that you are using a Dual RCA plug to 3.5 mm stereo jack adapter to connect the speakers to the TV's "Audio Out Variable" RCA jacks?
Have you tested the speakers with another known good analog audio source, like a computer's line or headphone output or an MP3 Player?
Have you made sure the TV's setting have not muted the audio or that the volume is turned all the way down or very very low?
Unless you are using the TV's ANT/CABLE input, have you made sure that that you are feeding both audio and video from the source device to the TV?
There is a light on the volume control (picture shown) i meant the unit has power
the speakers just stopped , i checked all the TV input settings everything is right
The next step is to find out if the problem is with the speakers or the TV audio output. Try the speakers with another known good audio source and test the TV audio output. The TV's line level audio output should have enough drive to be heard with a pair of earbuds (Start with the earbuds or headphones away from your ears in case the audio is real loud).
I believe that the speakers are working properly as you mentioned in the earlier post. The problem appears to be that you are not getting audio out of the TV -or- your adapter cable broke somehow.
If the adapter checks OK, you need to work out if the reason for no sound coming from the TV could possibly be:
1) The audio output hardware of the TV has failed.
2) An improper setting in the TV, such as:
---- a) The TV's volume control is turned down or it is muted
---- b) The wrong audio input source has been selected for the given video input
3) The audio feed into the TV has become disconnected.
4) The audio output on your video source has been set to a zero volume level, has been muted, or has been disabled.
I am still awaiting your answers to my questions in post #6
I also have a new question. Do the TV's internal speakers work normally for the given video sources?
What are you using as your audio and video source(s) to the TV? Can you test the audio outputs of those sources by connecting the speakers input directly to the source(s)?
I am going to try and explain how i hooked this up, the speakers are connected to each other there is plug that connects to the audio jack on the computer but i used a adapter female end to RCA audio (picture attached ) the RCA are connected to the tv, so some reason the speakers stopped working
I do not know how to proceed with finding a solution until my previous questions have been answered. I am done posting here until all answers are provided.
Chuck asked
1. What are you using as your audio and video source(s) to the TV? (as an example, I use a stereo receiver with speakers attached to add additional sound to our old analog tv).
2. Can you test the audio outputs of those sources by connecting the speakers input directly to the source(s)?
After your move, did you hook up every single cable between the TV and every other device exactly as they were hooked up before you unhooked them? Did you take notes, take pictures, or make drawings of how everything was originally connected before your move?
Then your should not be getting any video showing on the TV's screen or any sound from the TV's built-in speakers or from the TV's audio output. You need at least one antenna input or at least one video and audio input to the TV.
Does the sound work from the TV's built in speakers?
Do you have a cable box, DVD player, BluRay player, media player, etc hooked up to the TV? Or what device(source) are you feeding to the TV to get your video and audio to the TV? And is that source's audio connected correctly to the TV's input(HDMI or Audio in ports)?
But with a PC you are not using the RCA to stereo adapter, if you connect it to one of your other devices with the adapter cable you will test the adapter.
Just to clarify, when you play a DVD you do get sound out of the TV's built, in speakers but not the external speakers?
Okay, so maybe the adapter is indeed the problem. Just to be sure it doesn't only have an output for the LFE channel, what is the model of the DVD player? Double check that all the cables are connected all the way into the adapter. These adapters are pretty cheap so you could always buy another one for a few dollars.
If a cable got pinched or bent it could cause it to stop working.
LFE is Low Frequency Effects, it's what used for the sub woofer.
Are you sure it's a Toshiba DVD player? That model comes up as a DK Digital model, and that model has standard left and right audio output jacks so you should get all sounds out of it.
Do you have headphones to try instead of the speakers?
