Can one of our experts give me a blow-by-blow sequence of what happens when you logon (to specifically a Win XP computer). Where does the operating system look for the list of users authorized for the computer -- in a specific file or in the registry? And as you select the user (either the administrator by default if there are not multiple users or one specific user), what file contains the settings showing the user privileges for that user, the user name, password if any, etc. I assume this starts off in an "all users" folder or "administrator" folder at the start, then move to the folder for the specific user. If the logon privileges are not in the C:\Documents and Settings folder but have been moved to another drive, for example, what would be the name of the file in that drive that contains the logon data?
