Hey guys, I need help with my PC. My colleague reinstalled my Windows yesterday, and he installed the new one from USB drive. After he did it, and I turned on my PC, most of my files that were preserved on D: drive were transformed and locked, in some way, gaining a .LOKF extension.

I suppose this is some kind of malware that infected my PC from the USB Windows was installed from.
Can this be solved and how?
    Thank you in advance.

    Hello

I am Marie Curie and will gladly help you with any malware-related problems.

Please familiarize yourself with the following ground rules before you start.
    • Read my instructions thoroughly, carry out each step in the given order.
    • Do not make any changes to your system, or run any tools other than those I provided. Do not delete, fix, uninstall, or install anything unless I tell you to.
    • If you are unsure about anything or if you encounter any problems, please stop and inform me about it.
    • Stick with me until I tell you that your computer is clean. Absence of symptoms does not mean that your computer is free of malware.
    • Back up important files before we start.

    --------------------------------------------------------------

The file extension .LOKF has been used by STOP/DJVU ransomware. Variants before August 2019 are decryptable. STOP ransomware variants after August 2019 are only decryptable if an offline key was used.

Please upload an encrypted file and a ransom note to id-ransomware to confirm that it is indeed STOP ransomware.

Emsisoft has published a decrypter that you can use to decrypt files for free. You can download the decrypter here.

More information and answers to frequently asked questions about the decrypter are here.

The thread is rather old. Please tell me in your next reply:
    • if you still need help
    • if you also want me to check and clean your system
    • any questions you have
