long beep, short deadline :-(

    Hi,

    my pc wont bootup.. i am getting one long beep. all the fans go, two mobo lights come on, and all the drives spin.

    i have a 2.8 p4, 2x 512mb ddr 400 ram, GT6600. my motherboard is an abit 1s7


    any ideas whats up?? i have a very big deadline coming up :-(

    Loose cards or low power.

    Check all the cards and re-seat them then try

    It could be RAM-module related... Take a look inside the case to see if they're (the modules) are still firmly in place (perhaps they've come loose somwhow?)... If not, refit them. It could also be that your RAM's busted tho =/ As far as *I* know, puters only beep like that when it's a RAM problem... Anyone has any other ideas??

    i have pulled out all the cards apart from the video card, still beeping.. the ram is firmly in place.. its been working fine for 2 years, can ram just break??

    do you just have one card of Ram??

    Just Ram in one slot??

    Is it an IBM

    yep i have tried just one its veritech ddr 400 3200 cl2.5

    i have rest the video card, i have tried booting with the onboard graphics.. no luck

    it is a custom build

    If you boot up with out any Ram in does the beep change??

    Can't remeber if it was an onboard video card or not but if it not take it out and put the Ram back in and see if the beep is the same

    Also check the CPU isn't loose by re-seating it....also take the board out and place it on a non metalic surface and try and see if the beep is the same.

    After trying all these things then if you can change the power supply and see then only thing left is the board
