Hey, thanks for at least reading this thread if you do :)

So, I currently have a zalman z11 plus case. I received an EKWB Predator 240 for Christmas and was very bummed out to find out of doesn't fit anywhere logical. I saw people who drilled the top bit out, removed the fins off the case and separated the fans to the outside and the radiator inside but, to me I'm a big aesthetic as well as performance guy. Wish I wasn't but all that drilling, and messing around and having bulky fans sticking out the top would just annoy me.

For this reason I'm looking to buy a case. The only trouble is I need a 68mm distance between the top cooling mount of the case and the motherboard end. As the biggest flaw in the zalman is the heatsink on my msi z97 gaming 7 motherboard, and last ports in general, collided with the radiator on the predator 240.

I'm completely open to mounting the cooler at the front instead, however I also use my Blue Ray drive a lot of the time and it's also a liteon burner, which I use use lot too. So I can't seem to find out case with the 68mm top to motherboard clearance I need, or if I do it doesn't have an ODD Bay. Or if I find one with the front mount possible, it again doesn't have an ODD tray.

I feel I'm being stubborn having not moved away from ODDs in 2015 but I genuinely can't imagine life without it there, with its little old eject button ready for action.

It will IMHO be more or less impossible for anyone to advise on a specific case unless someone who reads the topic has by coincidence installed in a case the board and other hardware, you have with the Predator

My main reason for replying to you is to ensure you are aware of the reported problems with the water leaks on the EKWB
In view of the number of reports and you may especially be interested in the post on this link
http://www.pcper.com/reviews/Cases-and-Cooling/EKWB-EK-XLC-Predator-240-Liquid-CPU-Cooler-Review
dated 28 Dec by guest4glory

you may agree that contact with EKWB would perhaps be advisable

Returning to the case I cannot see a Zalman mid tower that suits but this
http://www.zalman.com/global/product/Product_Read.php?Idx=916
appears to meet the requirements

You may also wish to peruse
http://www.ekwb.com/predator/case-compatibility-list/

although I did not find it of great help.

As I am sure you are aware EKWB are based in Slovenia and have not yet recommended any particular cases - perhaps because of the vast number of variables with fitting their 240/360 together with the other case components

Hi, Thanks a lot for replying. My post definitely was a lot of blabber.

The measurement I am specifically needing is this one > http://puu.sh/mcW9H/fd51acc132.jpg

So this motherboard > http://puu.sh/mcWbk/0103bb0b50.jpg

When put inside my Zalman z11 case, the predator radiator doesn't fit due to it colliding with the North Bridge heatsink and the top most ports on the mobo.

So I am looking for a case that can fit the cooler at the top, combined with the z97, so need the extra space/height between the radiator and top of the motherboard panel, if you get me?

The leaking thing does sound pretty scary. I always wanted Water cooling due to not being a fan of a big big air cooler in my Rig, as when doing monthly cleanout/maintenance, I get annoyed with the space restriction of a big big air cooler. I dcecided to plunge into water cooling, with a nooby AIO, around July this year. I was about to dive into a H100i or something of the like, but then heard about the EKWB Predator having a September release, so I was bought it for Christmas. Seeing the benchmark results and temps, is a little underwhelming to be honest, especially for the price tag, but apparently even the H100i and other water cooling rads have huge trouble fitting inside my Z11 case, without drilling/modding that is. So With me wanting to eventually go SLI and some other variables, a new bigger case wouldn't be too bad.

I am not specifically looking for the Zalman brand again, although that H1 looks pretty darn accomadating right? For the cooler at the top that is. Especially with modular HDD bays, looks like it could also be a front mounted if need be.

If you do know of any other cases though, regardless of brand, I am in my women style shoe browsing mode on cases atm. Getting on my own nerves. :p

The H1 looks good for sure but, on the review of it and closer inspection it says this > Removing the thick top cover provides a closer look at the upper duo, and the purpose is quite clear: this whole section is specifically geared for a 240/280 radiator.

The god darn predator screws me again being 295mm in length........http://puu.sh/mcYsC/721001821b.jpg

EDIT: Just seen this picture > http://puu.sh/mcYQU/003defa257.jpg

Predator will fit?

Cheers
I had already looked at the MB and saw it was LGA1150
then I looked at the cooler and on reading the manual I came to the conclusion that the cpu mounting bracket has to be removed on the LGA1150 and replaced with the one provided by EKWB
However I then realised that EKWB state that the latest release of the 240 is LGA1150 ready
so I am unsure of what the situation is

Not that this has any direct relevance as of course if you are replacing the case it is no real problem to take out the CPU mounting plate

I am sorry I cannot as I said advise on any particular case.

Good luck with it and best wishes for 2016

Thanks for the response Macboat. Could you just do 1 last thing and check my above edit, to see if I am being stupidly blind or does it make sense that it'd fit up top with the H1?

1. You do have to remove the LGA1150 MP and replace with the 240 ensuring that you replace the insulating plate from the 1150
see manual

2. I would really not want to go as far as you are asking on that case
Hope you do appreciate that I only ever recommend something I KNOW 100% is going to work

3. You may find this interesting - Looks as though it may be same Z97 as your board
http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/foru...ews/70475-ekwb-predator-240-aio-review-3.html
have not read it all - do they specify which HAF

If you are still looking at a new case, I can recommend the corsair air 540.

http://www.corsair.com/en-gb/carbide-series-air-540-arctic-white-high-airflow-atx-cube-case

link to case specs.

In terms of room it gives a lot more than most- I bought one a year or so ago for a build for my parents, and liked it so much I ended up replacing my carbide with it. It has probably the most room for cooling I have seen, and allows a top or front mount fairly easily for an AIO (I use a corsair H100- was at a good price, and again works well).
If you need any dims I can have a measure up, or do a few pics if it helps.

That is a beast of a case
do not think the Predator 240 will fit top mounted
Nevertheless -
what a case

Just had a measure, I have at least 360mm clear at the top, 390mm on the front. Width is about 160mm, depending on where you measure..

The only real downside is that it only caters for 2 full size HDs- I had to make a rack up to hold my second couple. It has space for 4 or so SSD types drives, quite a nice little rack.
And yeah.. it is a bit of a beast, well worth the effort.
