Hey, I've been having this problem ever since coming back home from university. My laptop doesnt seem to be able to stay on the internet very well. I'll be randomly browsing, downloading, whatever, and then suddenly it'll stop. The wireless icon on the taskbar comes up with a "!" and says no internet access. The wireless connection is still full strength at this point, but no internet. What I don't understand is that the internet connection to the main computer (which is wired) works fine all the time; the internet connection works on the other wireless laptops in the house; and at uni I have no problems with the wireless internet. I don't know where the problem can be. Turning off the wireless card and turning it back on works for a few minutes or so, restarting the computer works for a bit longer. It usually works just long enough for me to get the false hope that it's fixed itself... Tech Support Guy System Info Utility version 1.0.0.1 OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional , 32 bit Processor: Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU T4200 @ 2.00GHz, x64 Family 6 Model 23 Stepping 10 Processor Count: 2 RAM: 2010 Mb Graphics Card: Mobile Intel(R) 45 Express Chipset Family (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM 1.1), 5 Mb Hard Drives: C: Total - 238372 MB, Free - 169421 MB; Motherboard: Dell Inc., 0G848F, , .BCHR9H1.CN7016694U01VD. Antivirus: AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 2011, Updated and Enabled I'm not particularly tech savvy, computers and myself dont seem to get on very well. I've absolutely no idea where to go from here... Cheers for any help guys.

I have no idea why that came out as a wall of text, and why quotation marks around an exclamation mark turned into something bizzare. I hate computers :(

Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:
(For Vista or 7 type CMD in the Search box after Start)

    Type the following command:

    IPCONFIG /ALL

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

    ------------------------------------------------------------

Make sure this is done while you are attempting to connect via wireless.

You may need to transfer the information to a working computer via flashdrive, CD, etc.

As far as I know, according to that, you should be able to connect to the internet.

Are you able to connect using Safe Mode With Networking?

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

How to Access Safe Mode With Networking

While the computer is turning on, tap F8 once every second until a black screen with white text appears. Using your arrow keys highlight the option Safe Mode With Networking and hit Enter.

I was connected to the internet at the time I did that test. It connects for a little while, then breaks, then if you reset the wireless card it works for a bit, then breaks again.

Would you like me to try again at the point where its lost the internet connection?

    Yeah, that could be useful.

    -----------------------------------------------------

Also, what is the make and model of the PC?

Please attach a screen shot of the Networks page of the Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector.

Also when you lose connection please do/show the following (same technique as for the ipconfig /all) ...

    ping 192.168.2.2

    ping 192.168.2.1

    ping 8.8.4.4

    ping yahoo.com
