Problem: Every few hours my network loses internet while I am on WoW & Vent, I get disconnected from both and have to wait 30sec+ for my network to re-establish internet connection.

What I've done so far:
-I have a wireless modem, but I've gotten an ethernet cord to plug directly in it
-Changed my energy settings to high/max performance
-Updated my network card
-Unplugged the modem for a short period then plugged it back in
-Disconnected from my network and reconnected
-Scanned for malicious software using Windows Security Essentials, as well as for spyware using Spybot S&D

This has been going on for a while, before we got our wireless modem (which is shared between 3 computers), we had a router & modem and we would continuously lose internet completely and we would have to reset the router and modem each time this happened. Now that we have a wireless modem, this happens.

with the pc connected by cable would you do the following when its working post the results and then repeat all the tests when it disconnects and post results

------------------------------------------------------------------------
{ipconfig /all}
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post results here
We would like to see the results from ipconfig /all post back the results here
-> Start
-> (XP - enter the following in the RUN box)
cmd /k ipconfig /all
-> (Vista or Windows 7 - enter the following in the Search box)
cmd /k ipconfig /all

A black box will appear on the screen -
rightclick in the box
select all
enter
control key + C key - to copy

then reply here and
control key + V to paste
------------------------------------------------------------------------
{Ping Tests}
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post results here

Start> Run {search bar in Vista}> CMD to open a DOS window and type:

Type the following command
Ping {plus the number thats shown against the default gateway shown in above ipconfig /all}
Post back the results
rightclick in the box
select all
enter
control key + C key - to copy
then reply here and
control key + V to paste

Type the following command
Ping google.com
Post back the results
rightclick in the box
select all
enter
control key + C key - to copy
then reply here and
control key + V to paste

Type the following command
Ping 209.183.226.152
post back results
rightclick in the box
select all
enter
control key + C key - to copy
then reply here and
control key + V to paste
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alright will get back to you on that. So far I haven't had problems since I updated my ethernet network driver and disabled Interrupt Moderation, but if it does disconnect I'll submit the info again when it dc's.

I know I am sort of like necroing but....I've been having issues with my computer and another household computer where we get warnings that another device is on the same IP, and both computers are having disconnection problems where the network keeps reconnecting and losing internet connection.

I ran a diagnostic when it was connected to the network but not to the internet and it said that the IP configuration was invalid and that windows had fixed the problem. Can any insight or anything be given to me on this? Any way to fix the IP issues we are having.

you need to look at the ipconfig /all and see if the IP assigned is the same OR if DHCP is enabled
If using a fixed IP that could cause issues when trying to connected to a router that has already assigned the IP

so you could post and ipconfig /all from those PC
and if the system stays off long enough to re-run all the tests posted

update the PC network adapter driver - whats the make and model of the PC -should be able to update driver there
Update the router firmware
reset the the router and re-configure the settings

Well, we don't run a router & modem set up anymore. We have a wireless modem which I'm connected directly too via Ethernet cable.
Looking at the data I submitted earlier, it says DCHP is enabled
DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes
. Should I disable DCHP? If so, are the settings on my network adaptor configuration settings or on the router homepage?
