    Please help me...

I have recently had a problem getting on to secure sites when attempting to do a little surfing, but now I cannot seem to get online at all...I get the error message " page cannot be displayed...blah blah blah"...

Does this sound like a firewall issue or does it sound like network adapter configuration problem or browser security settings?

I am relatively new to this game and require some assistance...
Any help would be greatly appreciated...

    Thanks in advance

If you require any system information from me,please let me know....

Here's a thread with a couple of Microsoft links to check, for "secure pages" issues. But if you have a firewall installed, try disabling it. And if it's NIS, there's this deal with "privacy" settings that gets in the way of viewing secure sites:

Also make sure you are not trying to connect through a proxy. Check Internet Options > Connections > Settings

ZoneAlarm has often been a source of problems and may need to be uninstalled. If you have ZA, it must be completely disabled from starting up before you uninstall it. Post for instructions if you need them.

    Thanks for your time...

I am actually asking this info for a friend of mine...I do not have access to his system but those were the thoughts that ran through my head when he told me of his dilemma...

Either he cannot get online because his network configuration was not right, his Norton Firewall settings were preventing him from getting anywhere online or his computer security settings were too tight...

I will pass your suggestions on to him and we will work on it from there...

    Thanks again for your assistance
