Don't know how many remember Sekirt from awhile back from here and Annoyances.

I had kept up with him over the last 8 years with personal emails.

He passed away on the 6th of this month.

God's speed old friend.

Thanks guys.

As many of us do on the forums we meet people on line but never see them in person.

I had been conversing with Sekirt since 04 and it hit me pretty hard as it was so sudden.

Luckly I had sent out an email checking on Sekirt and his son replied with the bad news.

Sometimes we never know what happens to some of our internet family.

You guys on TechGuy are a real close knit family and keep up with most of the people in some
form or another.

I am 72 now and have lost way to many friends and people I worked with lately. It sure
makes you think about your own mortality.

Sorry to carry on but keep letting those close to you how much you care as life can end too quick sometimes.

Hello techguys. I am Wondo. I was a friend of Sekirt. I googled him after I rec’d an email from his son re his passing. I will truly miss him!

Sekirt and I met at Annoyances 2001 when I was a newbie. I tracked him down to thank him for his help. I thanked him and then he wanted me to make changes to my computer and I said, “LISTEN HERE BUDDY! I don’t know you from a hole in the ground! I may not know about computers but I know there are a lot of scum low life out there waiting to take advantage of people and I’m not going to be one of them!” I shouted in my reply. … And thus began a long endearing friendship.

I cannot express in words how much he helped me and how much computer stuff I learned from him! Until more recently we had almost daily contact. He was a great guy who thanklessly helped many people for many years. We ended up with different OSs about 5 years ago so most of our computer stuff stopped but we kept touch about the other parts of our lives. He had been ill for some time, so in one sense, his passing is a blessing as he no longer has to suffer. I will forever be grateful for all he taught and shared with me. He was a great man!

Wondo

PS - I’m new here, am about to set up a computer with win 7 and considering what appears to have happened to annoyances and how goofy 7 seems to me, will likely be back.
Kudos Sekirt and God speed buddy. RIP

The post by Wondo is ironic.

Sekirt and I met under similar circumstances. We butted heads on something on Annoyances and got over very quickly.
From then on we internet buddies for over 8 years.

Will miss him making be an email type xmas and New Year card every year which I sent to all my friends on the net.

I did let his son, Jason, know that I had posted on there and sent him the link. He thought it was great that people on these forums really cared about other people that they never see in person.

I’m hoping they allow personal type dialogue here. Annoyance used to pull or not post anything I said on a personal level which was why S never heard me say “thank you” there = why I had to hunt him down to say thanks.

Yep Deke, it is ironic, but ya know, there was no bottom to his heart… as long as it wasn’t costing him money – lol. I’m seriously going to miss him! He was stubborn. I kept trying to get him to tag or i.d. conversation stuff, but he wouldn’t. Nor could I get him to change the subject header when the topic morphed.

Anyhoot… he knew I like birds. Did he send you the one called Celebirding? It had gotten buried so I didn’t see it until today. I wish I could have thanked him for it.

I did a search and found some OLD forum stuff and a couple newer things from 2011 at j-walkblog dot com. He made a change to the guy’s toilet paper holder

I was poking around in my stuff looking for those itsy websites he was doing but haven’t found them yet. I can’t recall when it was. Around the time as steve’s fish pond I think = who knows.

I hope Jason gets my email. So… you get through to Annoyances okay? I can’t. I was there one time about a week or two before Xmas. The day I’d been there I’d read a post by someone who was saying goodbye because the site had been taken over by spammers and although a few people remained, he was leaving. So what’s the deal with it? I wanted to post a question but decided to write it up first. I came back later and was never able to get onto the site again. Today I got a down for repair message but usually get 404, page doesn’t exist, you’ve got no internet connection or domain not found. Anyway, I’m glad you were able to let the guys know. I know he didn’t get along with all of them but neither did I.

Something I've re-learned recently [on a neighborhood level – you should meet my neighbors!]: we are not all going to agree with each other, and some of us will never like each other but that should not prevent us from treating each other with respect even when our opinions clash.

Thanks Deke and thanks techguy.

My thoughts are with you in the passing of an internet bud. I do often wonder where some of my internet buds are.

I'm sorry to hear this, Deke. I do remember Sekirt. He will be missed. :(
