Sorry if there is another thread about this already, I did my best to search all the connection problems.

I find myself losing connection to games/web pages/ p2p anything online. Yet when I look at my modem all the lights continue to pound away as if nothing is happening. I find that during the night hours (11pm to 6am) i can run non stop using full bandwidth with no problem. But as soon as it gets to 7am or later I will randomly get kicked off.

To fix it I have tried, cycling the modem / repairing the connection / restarting my computer. Usualy doing one of these fixes it within a few minutes but just a frew minutes after the connection is "restored" it will once again "go out".

I'm not sure if its static in the line or what.

I tried performing a /ping yahoo.com during one of my many disconnections from a game and although the lights continued to move the cmd screen showed nothing pinging. It wouldnt give me any info at all.

I checked all my contections (my modem is directly connected to my pc) i unplugged my tv, took out the splitter *split connection from tv line to modem line* I even disabled all my firewalls/anti virus

I'm running windows XP sp 2, and im totally lost at what is going on. I have tried to talk to mediacom a number of times and they just jack into my modem via there office and ofcorse by the time i get off hold my net is running "fine" and they see "no problems" and tell me that it seems like a waste of time to send anyone out if when i get "disconnected" my lights are still going.

help.. its been over a month and im getting to the point of tossing my modem in the trash.

    thank you

Hi and welcome. I'd definitely think about testing a different modem ;)
