There is commercial software available that can usually recover recently deleted files. Many of them will will allow you to download and run them in a free demo mode that will scan your hard drive and report what deleted files it found the chances of recovery. You have to then purchase the software to actually recover the files.

Have you tired searching for the files just in case they were moved instead of deleted?

Have you considered setting up separate log-in accounts for family members on your computer. A password protected log-in would make it almost impossible for someone to accidentally delete or modify your files and make it more difficult for someone to deliberately get to your files and delete them.
