The recently used programs on my start menu has been completely blank, and no longer seems to function. How do I restore it, other than reinstalling or repairing Windows xp?

Right-click the Taskbar, Properties. Start Menu, Customize button. Look to see if a reasonable number is in the box about how many programs to display. Try changing it and Apply.

All that does is change the size of the blank space.(makes the panel taller or shorter) still no programs listed

Are you using any theming programs or have you changed fonts lately?

No, I don't use theming programs and have not changed fonts. It seems to be an isolated problem, because I haven't noticed any other problems in XP. I do use the powertoys tweakUI, but that was installed long before I noticed this
