got Uncle's old pc and cannot access windows because of novell password. Uncle has passed away and we had been given this awesome pc but cannot get into it. What to do? Do not really need to see any files but cannot get by crtl+alt+delete message. Family would like to see some files. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Is this a bios password when you power up cruiser or an XP Admin password?

Don't really know. He was sick for a while and didn't work much lately. Novell just pops up and asks for a password and user id.

The reason I ask is that this may be a case of the password is set into a chip on the motherboard, and it may be expensive to remove it.
You could try removing the CMOS battery on the board for about 20 minutes then replacing it and see if that removes the password.
Removing the battery works 9 times out of 10 but......
    Try it and see.

Please get back to me with what happens as it will be valuable information for the future regarding Novell.
