Hi wondering if anynody has any advice for me. Basically bought full OEM version of XP Home for my new build. I took the plastic wrapping off the oem cd intending to install it tonight, however my mum binned the wrapping ( which included the COA ) and the binmen have since carried the trash away. How can i go about getting a new CD Key as i canont get the new system running without it. I've looked for specific email addresses for microsoft for their advice but can't seem to find any. Would Microsoft give me a new cd key or will i need to buy again. Cheers.

Thanks for reply Kiwiguy. What sort of proof would i probably need. i still have reciept if applicable?? i've already tried that contact info but they wont let me email them as the product is an oem version, therefore they ask me to contact computer manufacturer. however this does not apply as i bought the oem version seperate from any system and it is highly unlikely that the company i bought it off will give me a new cd key for my mistake? Cheers

Hopefully, the receipt should be enough proof.I have usually found them OK to deal with but being an OEM could make it a bit harder, especially as it was not bought with a system.I would imagine there are programmes available where you can lift the CD key number from within the CD but I doubt they would be legal!
Hope you can solve your problem...

I understand your dilemma but you need to contact Microsoft. With proof of purchase they will probably help you out.

I'm going to close this thread now.
