MAC OSX and 8.6...slow Internet Speeds

Hi Folks,
I work for a cable internet service provider and we have ran into some trouble with MAC computers...they are not connecting at the speed they should be!! We send a service tech to the house and he connects his laptop to their modem and speeds are above average..then connects the MAC and the speed is half if not worse of what it should be....any ideas????? Not sure if this is the write board, i will post in the Internet board as well..

Maybe something to do with the ethernet cards in them?

Mac = Macintosh computers via Apple.
MAC = acronym, such as "Military Airlift Command".

write = using a pen/pencil to make a mark upon a flat surface, so can read.
right = a direction, opposite of left; also, to be correct, opposite of wrong.

Sorry, couldn't help it... just seemed funny/interesting to see two such blatant errors, coming from a ISP provider...

Is there any commonality w/ these machines, besides being Apples? What of the OS [which version of X, plus 8.6? No 9.x?]? Connected in the same manner? etc...
