I inherited a Mac 15" Aluminum PowerBook G4 1.25 GHz. It was given to me by an IT guy at my company who told me the hard drive is dead and needs replacing. The Mac won't start. I replaced the hard drive with a Hitachi 100G 5400 rpm from OTC. The install was easy and the computer started right up and gave me the blinking folder with the ? and then the smile etc. I loaded the restore disc and it lauched the install OS X menu. All was going smoothly until it came to the "choose where to install the system". The new hard drive doesn't show up. Nothing appeared in the box and the "options" button and the continue button remained grayed out. I tried Disc utility and it could only find the DVD. The computer started with the new drive in it, it wouldn't do that with the old so I believe the new drive works. How do I get the drive to mount?
Thanks,
TD
