This office network has happily transferred files between OS 10 and XP for several years. They have just acquired a Win7 machine which asks for a password and user name to access the Mac, and none of the known User name/PW combos work. I even created a new account on both machines with the same User Name/PW and still get a "Wrong User name/PW" message.
I have closed the firewalls, checked all the sharing settings, etc, to no avail. I can ping the Mac from the Win7 machine and it shows up in the network.
What do I need to do to transfer files from the Mac to the Win7 machine?

I don't know. I've sometimes had strange errors like that with my Windows 7/Vista/XP systems. Sometimes after trying several times and rebooting both machines it will start working as I think it should and sometimes not.

Maybe there is something in this PC World Set Up Your Home Network, Windows 7 Edition article that will help.

Very strange, I don't have a problem with connecting to my wife's Macs (note plural :)). Can the Windows 7 machine see the Dropbox folder?
