I am currently using Norton System Works 2003 and I have McAffe sitting on the shelf. My question is this: When I was running McAffe, I would get a popup telling me that a program was trying to connect to the Internet and it asked what permissions it should get. When using Norton, I never get that question, but I want to know, because all programs are getting access to the Internet, is it worse, the same, or better then MacAffe at protecting me online?

Asking for program's internet access is called a Firewall. You definitely need one if you have the internet.
Mcaffee must have had a firewall built in. I thought NAV did also, you may want to look through the program to see if you can find it.

If not you can use a free firewall such as ZoneAlarm .
