Some of the computers on my network are slow when trying to navigate and open files on my LAN. The computers are running Windows 98 and Win2Kpro. What can I do to speed them up?

q,

what is your network configuration? Are you running at 10 or 100 speed on an ethernet? Are you using a 10/100 switch or hub to connect the computers?

If you are running a 100BaseT network, make sure that all link lights show that the connections from server to hub/switch to workstation are all running at 100BaseT and not 10.

There are many other possibilities but thats a good place to start...

10BaseT ethernet is what we are using. The strange thing is that only a few machines are having this problem.
