How do I block pop up banner ads (in Firefox) that don't reveal their source, rather give me the message "About Macromedia Flash Player 8..."

I got netscape so firefox should be about the same.
Go up to View and down to "Page Info" and click on it.
Then you get a window that pops up.
Go to the "Media" tab and find the flash and then look below and it will show the link of where it is coming from.
Then add that site to your hosts file to block them.
Now if it is a java link then it gets harder because you will not see it in the media tab. So look links tab and see if there is a link to it there. Again if they use java links your not find it there. So look in your history.
A good hosts file will block out most ads and bad sites too. I use hphosts http://www.hosts-file.net/downloads.html and edexter http://www.accs-net.com/hosts/eDexter.html

But there may be flash blocker Extensions you can get for firefox too.
    Here is one http://flashblock.mozdev.org/

I have a batch file that just rename the flash plug-in and I keep it so the flash is always off and only turn it on when I need to.

In Firefox, the Page Info is under Tools menu.
