    ..I was working from Windows help, looking for 'how to eliminate programs from startup'
    ....the manuver i tried was..... "start">>shut down>>restart>>ok>>>hold control button till dark screen appears
    ....when that screen came up it was not what I wanted and "escape" wouldn't work to stop it
    .....instructions on screen say choose yes,no or pass for each item
    ....I figured if i passed on each one nothing would be affected.
    ...........WRONG!!! the first item ...I passed on.......pop-up told me that item was not in the list
    ..........I got nervous and shut off computer at the switch --{I didn't see any other way to depart}
    --------------------------
    ....now brother tells me computer keeps freezing up while online.
    ............OH WOE is me.....What have I done??
    ..does any of this make enough scense to comment on

    What you did there should not have caused any damage - it should have forced scandisk to run on the next boot is all.
