    My system:
    Intel Celeron 700MHZ
    384MB PC133 RAM
    ASUS CUV4X mobo
Creative Annihilator GeForce 2 mx 32MB
    Creative PC128 soundcard
    Network Everywhere network card
    WinME

    Hiiiiii,
here's my problem... sometimes when I press the powerbutton on my box. (when the computer is off) it will turn on but it won't rEALLY turn on... it's sort of in some sort of suspension .... the computer turns on but the screen remains in power saving mode.. or rather nothing seems to be sent to the monitor to display and then it just hangs there for..forever
so I have to kill the power by the switch on the powerbox .. wait a while or pray, just lucky it will turn on next time and then if it does after the little problem, then it boots to BIOS safemode where it says :
Your computer hung due to an Incorrect CPU speed setting etc..

I'm quite certain that my cpu is 700mhz... and that's the setting in the BIOS... i have tried other settings even and i get the same results.

any suggestions to fix this ,... if not any clarification on what's going on would be very helpful!

    thanks !!

Sounds like a BIOS glitch. I have a computer
that does almost exactly the same thing.
The monitor light turns yellow but won't go
to green, and everything just stops.

It's steadily gotten worse the past few months,
and now I have to momentarily disconnect
the MB battery for it to boot. There seems to
be a problem with the saved values (all I do is
set the clock now), but the defaults work fine.

You might try a flash upgrade from the MB
manufacturer, but I'm guessing it's gonna
take another BIOS chip or MB replacement.

    Anyone else have any ideas?

    Cheers, Mac

BTW, if you find a solution, please post it back
    here...

I wonder if clicking Esc button would let it boot on up or whether it would suspend it?
Might even shut you down.... hmmmmm.

    Savvy :)

also sometimes if I leave my computer it will go into some weird standby mode.... not the kind that it's suppposed to
i turned off all those things.. it just goes blank monitor and then does nothing ..

the monitor used to turn off by itself (as set) but now it sort of turns back on by itself and also does weird things
    and goes into limbo..
    great

    thanks for the reply
