    HI,
I just formatted my hard drive using the windows explorers after mounting it as slave on another computer. When I took back the formatted hard drive to its maching to reinstalle the OS the machine could no longer recognise the HDD as a bootable media. Is there a way to make this HDD bootable again. Thanks for any advice.

It will only be bootable when there is an operating system on the drive to boot into.

Not being detected is a different problem. Does it show up in BIOS setup? How is it connected and do you have the jumpers set correctly?

I was assuming an IDE drive, but is it a SATA or IDE?

Thanks very much for the concern and the help. A friend of mine advised me to try changing the ram. I did and everything worked.
    Thanks
