Help ... I ran my Mcafee anti-spyware and it advised me that Winfix.com is a potentially unwanted program. It's a pop up and I can't get rid of it .. no matter what I do.

My computer has been extremely slow, the windows won't close correctly (pieces of each window stay on the screen when I close one). I've been trying for hours to get onto this site today, but this machine hasn't allowed me to. It has a mind of it's own.

Sometimes I get blue screens and up until a couple of days ago, I wasn't allowed to log off. My only option was to "switch users" and there aren't any other users on this computer that I know of. Now I can log off and the "switch users" option is gone.

Another thing ... my system restore points are gone. My only option is to restore it to 1/12/06 and that's the date everything started going crazy.

And often latey, a screen will just pop up out of nowhere (ex. my files or my network places -- not regular popups). But something called "Winfix" keeps popping up and I can't stop it no matter what I do. My pop up blocker is set to a high level and winfix is not an allowed application.

I did find 2 keyloggers last week, but am sure I got rid of them.

Also, what is this "Hijack This" everyone seems to have?

Does this sound like the work of a Hijacker???

Appreciate any help!!! (hope this gets thru)

Click here to download HJTsetup.exe: http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/files/HJTSetup.exe
Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.

Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
