    Hello,
I have a few problems with my internet that I can not figure out how to fix. Ive looked among other posts and have not found anything similar.
One problem is that when i view webpages, the background color does not show up. It allwasy appears white. It jsut started doing this. Another problem that i have, is that games needing jave (i think its java) and shockwave, maybe others, do not start. And Ive never had a problem with this before. If anyone could help me i would appriciate it. Thank you.

For backgorund colours, in Internet Explorer 6, go to Tools > Internet Options > General and click on Accessibility Button at the bottom of the window. Here see to it that none of the boxes are enabled.

For Java problem, see if Java Virtual Machine (JVM) is installed in your PC. Which version of Windows are you using? Usually, in DOS Prompt you can simply type Java and see what comes on the screen. That should tell you whether JVM is installed or not. You can also download JVM from http://www.sun.com

Well i found out that the problem with the games only occurs with games that need to connect to a sever. I get a message that says it failed to connect to the server. BUt i know these games worked before, and they work for oter people. I thought maybe a setting was just wrong but i dont know much about that. Thank you!

:D Glad to know that colours are back to normal.

What is the exact error that you get in games? Which games are you trying to play? I am not an avid gamer so wouldn't know much about their intricate requirements. But error message can point us towards the likely problem.

Well, they are games that need to connect to a server. They always say something like, failed to connect to server. And i have played these games before so i didnt know if it was a setting on my comp or something. so i dont know. But the games work for other people, just not me. I think for example, some games at www.popcapgames.com ifthat is the site. Thank you

You don't know which OS you have!! If it is WinXP then you will have to install JVM manually. Earlier it used to get installed alongwith the Windows installation. But with XP Micro$oft changed its tactics to discourage use of Java.

You can download JVM from sun's website. JVM is a part of JRE (Java Runtime Environment).

You can download JRE from http://java.com/en/download/faq/get_jvm.jsp

If the link above doesn't work, go to the following sites and search for JVM or JRE
    http://www.sun.com
    http://www.java.com
