Busy week for sys-admins this week with the MS March updates. Depending on what is installed on the system, this morning I have noted the number of patches varying from 31 for the least to 53 for the most - that includes MS Office.

It would be really helpful if Forum Members would post to this Thread any problems that they may experience after installing the March updates.

Thanks in advance for your feedback... :)

None of my computers run Microsoft Office, so they didn't have as many March updates as some other computers do.

My Windows 7 computers had 13 important/recommended updates and my Windows XP computers had 9 high-priority updates.

All appear to be working fine at this time.

I had 44 updates yesterday for Windows and Office 2010. All installed with no problems.

Of our 7 Windows machines all have been up dated and none have had issues.
One machine with XP had 7 updates, the others depending on the different versions of "bit" count and Office versions had any where from 16 to 46. The Windows 8.1 with Office 2010 had 46 updates. All other machines were Windows 7 64 bit and one with 32 bit.

I notice that the W7 32 bit with Office 365, did NOT have any office updates as they are controled when using Office 365.

31 Updates for Windows 8.1, 40 for Office 2010 (etc.), no issues.

14 Updates for Windows 7 Pro, 2 Updates for Office 2000, no issues.

12 Updates for Windows 7 Ultimate, 45 Updates for Office (2007 Compatibility Pack & 2010), no issues.

Haven't gotten around to my dual boot laptops yet.

You can already see the trend in this thread. What issues were you expecting or, have you experienced?

Thanks to all for the feedback.

There were a few issues that were reported but these seem to have been user-related rather than update-related.... :D

Good to know that Redmond have done a good job with the updates this month..(y)

I downloaded all the updates for my W8.1 laptop very quickly.

The problem I now have is that the Update screen is hanging at the Preparing to Install part of the process - even after I re-boot.

(First time this has happened - anyone else have similar?)

Chaz, have you tried a System Restore..? Do you manually create a Restore Point before updating..? W8.1 is "supposed" to create a Restore Point before applying updates, but there have been numerous reports that it does not always do this, so on my personal computers, I always manually create a Restore Point before applying updates.

I have read some articles that are reporting issues with the March updates on Windows 8/8.1 machines.

So no, you are not alone.

Don't recall the exact number of updates for my 8.1 Home Edition machine (50 at least), but I've had no issues whatsoever after installing them.

Preparing To Unstall hang problem has resolved itself.

A couple of days after I posted, on switching off laptop the Shutdown option had altered to Update and Shutdown which I let it do overnight. No probs since then.

(I prefer to check out the latest updates before they get installed - I've also started a Driver Diary to keep track of what was d/loaded and when).

Tabvla, I hadn't thought about a Resore Point - will keep it in mind. though...

Shooter, one thing with MS, whatever prob you're having - you know you're sharing it with thousands of others!

I don't know if that'a comforting thought or not!
