I have accidently encrypted numerous files all of which need to be recovered. They appear to be on a No Recovery Policy. I am no longer allowed to write to the desktop, access some files as they are encrypted and the user login icon changed from custom pictures to the default chess piece.

Edit: I can see using trial EFS decrypter programs that the data is there and decryptable, yet these programs all seem to have file size limitations. Are there any free EFS decrypters OR can they still be decrypted under a windows xp procedure?

If you didn't create the recovery agent when you enabled EFS, and you no longer have the account they were created with, you need to kiss those files goodby.

You might try this package, I have no experience with it: http://www.elcomsoft.com/aefsdr.html
