I am currently trying to install Mcaffe netshield 4.5 on a netware 5 server. I originaly had problems getting the netshld.nlm to load. The problem was due to the server not being up to the latest support pack. After installing support pack 6a which was downloaded directly from novell the nlm loaded fine.

The problem was that when users relogged onto the system they only had read only access to files which meant they were denied access to all server applications. I tried logging in as admin and giving users supervisor rights but was prompted with a netware error not allowing me to do this. After uninstalling sp6a the users logged in with full rights but no antivirus.

Any help?

Hiya and Welcome

I'm not up on Novell, but I'll have a go :p

Reading the FAQ's at Mcafee, and by the way, many will say that Mcafee isn't that good, but then I use AVP.....whoops, off the question....Anyway, it says:

Does Netshield for Netware support Novell clustering?
It dosen't.
Is clustering what you do?

Also, this error that you get: Is it possible for you to post what you get?

Okay, had a look in depth at the site I will post. As I have not much idea about Netware, and you will know more, have a browse and see if anything rears its ugly head. If not, let us know and we'll dig deeper.

The mcafee page doesnt help. If you read the articles on why the netshld.nlm file wont load you will see that you need to install another file which is contained in the novell support pack. This is what I installed and the ma,virus worked fine. The error came up in NWadmin when trying to give users their access rights back. The code is as follows:
