Used the Avert McAfee Stinger scanner says that computer is infected with Netsky D virus

    in C:\_Restore\Archive\FS3.CAB\W0000011/CBY

System Restore was turned off during scan (and is still off)

How come the Symantec removal tool for Netsky says there is
no virus when McAfee Stinger says there is.

(virus making outlook and explorer inoperable..computer originally got Netsky B but was removed) Please help!

It appears to be in your restore folder. Did you allow stinger to delete it?

I'm not a geewiz on these restore folder options as I don't use XP or ME but I'm sure there is a way to delete it.

Have you tried to delete the file now that you have system restore turned off?

many times ME system restore is enabkled even though you think you have disabled it

if stinger found the virus in it, thenit is highly probable taht it is enabled.

the norton removal tools do not scan inside restore folder they only deal with the current executables

stinger is a cut down full blown antivirus, that just scans for certain viruses not the whole lot

follow the advice in the above posts about disabling, but reverse the instructions, that is if it says tick the box, untick it etc & try then
