Hi,

I am having a problem with Mcafee Virusscan Home Edition 7.0

Every time i try to update it gives me this error:
VSMain has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. It

I am running windows XP Pro and have recently reinstalled Mcafee. I bought this as a legitimate product, and it was installed from the CD. Before I uninstalled it, it would update fine. When i uninstalled it I deleted all the registry entries. Now i have freshly installed it, and it sill won't update!

I have talked to Mcafee support and they shed no light on the matter.

Thanks alot,
Michael

If this was Zone Alarm, I would think there was a problem with reinstalling because of the method you unistalled/upgraded. I did a similar search on McAfee's site and found This Link that gives details on uninstalling/upgrading. I would go through their uninstall method then try again.

Hope it works for you. BTW Michael, I love your Counrty and the Dutchies. My "surrograte son" lives in Bevewijk; his name is Syp.

Are you just trying to update the data files right now?

I've run into a similar problem on one user's machine. I downloaded the data files manually for a couple of times and installed them that way, then one day it started working again.

Can't quite remember, I'm thinking I downloaded at least 3 or 4 dat updates, then decided to just try it the normal way one day for fun, and it worked.

I'm not quite sure what the USER tried to do......I got the typical "I didn't do anything" answer, so no telling........
