When I try to run McAfee to scan all fixed disks I get the message "this program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down." MCSCANN 32 DLL performed an invalid memory access. Module name: MCSCAN32DLL. Application name: Scan 32 exe. Description: Virus scan.
I have not been able to scan for viruses for several weeks because the program shuts down.
How do I rectify this situation?
    Thank you.

bj25, Have you tried to start your computer in safe mode and do the scan from there? A virus could be interupting the scan. If you have tried that, did you make an emergency disk in Macafee and have you tried that?
Having said that, I had a similar problem a few months ago and it ended up being the DAT file I had downloaded was corrupt. I ended up uninstalling Mcafee and reinstalling but only updated the DAT to the one previous then downloaded the newest DAT and had no problem from then on.

PS. I new it was the DAT file because I first downloaded another copy of it and the problem came back as soon as I updated.

    Hope this helps
