Given the problems that McAfee has had and been causing lately I would suggest uninstalling McAfee completely and downloading something such as Avira Personal Edition (it is free).

I would recommend Trend Micro PC Cillin. Top rated and it finds things that other antivirus programs don't. It's not free but you get what you pay for.

Consider a freeware like Avast Free or Avira .
    They have an excellent rep.
McAfee is going towards the south.
    JUST STAY AWAY FROM THEM.

All helpful suggestions, but the original poster wants to install McAfee.

glynbo, you need to be sure there are no other anti-virus programs installed on the computer, and that you are installing McAfee using an administrator user account. Some firewalls may also block the installation.

What does this mean "to even letting mcafee takin over my laptop there side"? We need to know more details of what you have tried and the errors you are seeing in order to help with this. It is possible your laptop has a malware problem that is preventing the re-installation.

macafee is not malicious software, and you may get yourself in trouble stating that it is.

Need to watch in that your opinion of software does not cloud your judgment, antech.

Antech, please do not post frivolous messages in the tech forums. If your post is not directly related to actually solving the problem, you need to refrain from putting it up. While it's fine to post "comments" occasionally, you have been posting so many casual comments that have nothing to do with solving problems lately that we are starting to get reports about it from other members.

Please take a few extra minutes to make sure your post is going to be directly related to solving the problem at hand.

If you want to simply make comments and make conversation, you are welcome to post in the community forums instead of the tech forums.
