Hello, I used to get auto updates to my system but I realise now that the feature seems to have gone. I think there used to be an icon in sys tray for it, but that has vanished. In control panel under Auto updates I still have a check in the appropriate section to inform me.
Any ideas how to get the feature back please.

DON'T enable Win ME's Windows Auto Update feature -- it can cause crashes/freezes. Download your updates manually.

Thanks Del, I think I will take your advice.
In fact Have just doen a manual check and it says I need an update to my IE 6 of about 20 mb. There is not much chance of a lot of folk being able to download that size of file as with my ISP you get chopped after 2 hours. So I reckon those updates will have to be ignored.

It I'm not mistaken your download of updates will resume where it left off and show as a partial download in Windows\temp file. If booted just restart the download and it should show that part is already done.

Yeah I don't like it either. To me it's a pain in the neck.
