ME not booting - Restore Point Question.

My daughter has installed a game on her Windows ME PC, now when the PC is restarted it will not boot to ME (Safe Mode does not work either). Goes part way in to Windows and stops with a command prompt type of window in the right side of the screen but you cannot type anything in to it.

If I boot from a floppy disk is there a file that I can run to return to
a restore point ? or does this only work in Windows ?

There is no way I know of to access WinME restore from floppy but you should be able to achieve a minimal boot. Once you get to the WinMe startup disc menu select minimal boot.
At "a" prompt type C: and enter. Now at "c" prompt type in
scanreg /restore and enter. Make sure space is between the g and /. You will receive a set of five dates that represent registry
backups for good starts. Pick the one that is just before the software load and hit enter.
The system will prompt you for restart.
Hopefully that will get you out of this mess.
