I am running ME. I tried to play a song intro. from a wed site and was told "class not registered" error 80040154. I upgraded my media play to mp 9 but am still getting the same message. I can find no place that will tell me how to correct this error. Can anyone please help?

PS I'm the Mom in this family and am not the most tech-savvy Mom in town. But I'm more so than anyone else in this family!! All that to say -- please keep the language simple!!

Thanks

I tried to install wmp 9 over the top of the first installation, but the same error message still came up.

Can anyone else help? Thanks

The solution is to:

: 1. Download Win Media Player 7.1 from the MS
: site;

: 2. Disconnect from your internet connection;

: 3. Close all other programs;

: 4. Activate the 7.1 setup program;

: 5. Select "reinstall all components";

: 6. The program will advise that setup has failed
: (its looking for files over the internet),
: then force you to reboot;

: 7. When you reboot, 7.1 setup will begin
: updating your windows settings. Actually,
: it will be loading and registering the
: libraries you need to open streaming windows;

: 8. WinMedPlyr 9 will remain intact; open and use
: it as normal. You may find need for various
: additional codecs. One package resides in
: the MS download site, the others are on
: divx.com or moviecodec.com.

Found that suggestion on another site......sounds kinda bizarre.......but may be worth a try.
