I have an IBM Thinkpad 755 laptop. When I try to write to the floppy I get a "memory parity error detected" "system halted" error. I have 2 floppy drives and they both have the problem. I had this problem when I bought the laptop 1 year ago and it went away mysteriously and has worked perfectly for the past year. The self-test for memory and the floppy pass. I do not know where to turn.

    Thank you

Parity error can be caused by a bad driver. This may be the problem you are experiencing since it was there "and went away". Check your video and sound drivers.
