My computer freezes up and runs out of memory frequently. I think it may be because of the ton of files and software that go on and off of it. Is there a way to fix this problem without erasing the hard drive?
Removing programs from his system is not going to help w/ a need for memory or RAM.
If however you have a minimal amount of RAM installed you can't have but a couple items in the start up .
look beside the clock at the icons....thats only what you know is in startup... to see whats running in the background hold down ALT-Ctrl & Del at the time. only do this once as it will shut your system down
if you have many items ... then you will need to remove them from MSconfig ( go to run & type in msconfig )
then click on the tab saying startup
take the checks out of anything thats not necessary to load from the bootstart.
Leave checks in :
SystemTray
ScanRegistry
LoadPowerProfile & then farther down the list LoadPowerProfile again
Now click Apply
then click OK
it will ask you if you want to reboot... click yes
If you continue having trouble I'd say ...IMO...you need fresh memory installed
I hope this helps you
