    Dear Sir,
    Thanks for reading my mail.
I have this USB stick for a while and has been working all along.
On one occasion when I try to access to it, a dialogue box opened up and prompt me to 'format' my memory stick.
I clicked 'No" and another box appeared saying 'the volume does not contain recognized system".
I don't understand why the USB port failed to read my memory stick, could there be a virus or the driver is missing or corrupted?
There are files and movie clips stored and I sincerely hope you can help me out?
Thanks for your precious time and hope to hear from you.
Have a nice day at work.
    Francis ;)

have you tried it in another computer? they do go bad sometimes and they only last for so many read/write cycles. i would try another computer first, but you may have to replace it. i do know that if you format it, you will lose your data. you may be able to recover some of it, but it can get expensive.

    Hi Kanaitpro,
I have tried my memory stick on other computers and it is still the same problem.
I couldn't check or open the contents of my flash drive.
Everytime when I tried to open it, it always prompt me to format it which is so annoying.
Do U know of other ways that I can try to salvage my memory stick?
Thank you so much for your kind reply.
    Cheers

much as i hate to say it, it's probably shot. this would be a great way to point out the need for regular backups of anything you don't want to lose. you should always keep a copy of important things in at least one separate place (backing up to a partition on a different partition on the same hard drive doesn't count).
