Welcome to TSG!
The second question is the eaiser of the two.
Randon Access Memory
Read Only Memory
The first question on principles of system bus is difficult because I believe there are no real set principles since technology of processors is evolving so rapidly and bus performance is not keeping up. AMD has devised some unique ways of increasing bus speeds but still falls short of processor speed causing delay in transfer from processor to memory. If I were to state what the primary principle is it would be to provide syncronized data transfer between processor and memory with zero processor idle time waiting for bus.
Lets see what others have to say on system bus principles I am curious.
