I've just bought an external 500gig "Metal Gear Box" hard-drive, I'm have a problem with Vista not recognizing the device, I am being prompted to put in the CD which was not included with the new hard-drive! Please help.

I'm not sure what you mean? I am simply not able to open the "Metal Gear Box" External 500 gig Hard drive, when I go to my computer and click on Drive (E:) to open the Hard drive a pop up appears, it says "Insert disk" Insert disk into Removable disk (E:) My computer is a Toshiba Satellite PC running Vista.

Have you tried setting the jumper to cable select or slave if your other drive is set to master?

Not wanting to sound dim, how do I check that, and what would I do to set the cable to slave or any other format?

Thanks for your advice, I could not get any of these to work. I had an idea to look at the hard drive, I unscrewed the hard drive to find that hard drive had shifted as the mounting screws were loose and it was no longer plugged in to the board! I put it back in and tightened up the screws, voila!
