Mic. codecs

I have recently bought a motherboard (M2N ASUS SLi Deluxe) and it comes standard issue with a Sound Max SUPERBEAM ASUS mic. the thing is I get no response from it, because I was fooling around with the motherboard itself, I thought I might have left a cable unpluged to do with the mic. I checked and there was no cables not connected. So it has to do with the codecs.

I got my other older mic. and it got response but very little, I literally had to yell into to it for anyone to hear it. So I tryed downloading codecs from the site for the mobo. and nothing improved. What do you think the problem is?

 

It has nothing to do with codecs. Make sure you have the latest drivers for your MOBO.

Open your sound mixer and look under the MIC tab for '+20db Boost' and tick it.

 

I only downloaded the audio drivers for the motherboard like 3 days ago, so they are up-to-date, I have gone through all possible menues for the mic. software and there is nothing I haven't tryed. It's really wierd - I think my mic. jack is stuffed, and yet the audio/speaker jack works fine.

I got very limited response with the front mic. port/plug, but it shows codecs are installed. Specify where sound mixer is sorry... "+20db Boost"?
