Some time ago I bought a (cheap) headset with a microphone. I havent used the microphone much though, so now that I've tested it in the windows program for playing in sounds ( dont know what its called in the english version) I hear that it is some kind of buzzing all the time. Instead of describing it more ive uploaded a small file with an example of how it sounds.

So, whether you listen to it or not, whats the problem? And hopefully a solution to the problem..

Edit: The headset is a phillips shm6100

Try going to Control Panel>>Audio Devices>>Voice tab>>Test Hardware button.

    Let us know the results

Also try this and see if the results are the same

    Try this one Audacity

    Also try this

    go Start>>Run>>type dxdiag click OK

Click Sound tab move the Acceleration down and try it

Trying to talk in the audacity gave the same buzzing. Change acceleration did not make any diffrence either. I did the test and it said it was working. However, the green bar is almost up at red all the time even when Im not talking, because of the buzzing. Turning the volum down helps, but then i have to scream to hear my voice..
    Thanks for the tips anyway.

Do you have the drivers for your Sound Card on Disk??

Also have you checked for any update drivers for that card?

Also have you tested that Mic on another PC?

I havent tested the mic on another pc. Unfortunately i dont have another pc close by so ill have to test that later.
But now i have found out something very strange. When the mic is around 5 cm or closer to my laptop the buzzing is totally gone. When moving it away it gradually gets higher until it reaches the maximum at around 30-40 cm or so... :S

Try just using the battery on the laptop, unplug the main supply and see what happens.

My english isnt very good im afraid. When you say "another mains power supply" im not sure what you mean. Another contact in the wall, or some other laptops wire?
The laptop is under 1 year, and the wire the same. If power supply means the contact on the wall I have no idea. Pretty old I guess.

    Understood....

No, I meant how old the power supply for the laptop and 1 year is not that old.

For the mains I meant another wall socket somewhere in the house....just to see if it is the same.

    And your English is fine....

I tried a couple of other wall sockets in the house and the same ol' buzzing is back.;) So it must be the wire that came with the laptop then. (Ill try it somewhere else too just to be sure, the house is very old..) Thanks for the help:)

OK, if you try it at other locations other than where you are and it is the same....then I would suspect the Power Supply unit to the laptop.

If it is under warranty still you could try for a replacement power supply...
