I think I had this in the wrong forum, so I am re-posting here. Sorry.
I have a brand new headset plugged into the front. The earphones work fine, but I cannot get the computer to find the microphone. I'm under Windows XP Professional. On the control panel I've got Speech > Audio Input > Speech Recongition > Audio Input Settings I can choose between "Use Preferred Audio Input Device" and "Realtek HD Audio Input". Neither of them seem to work. I have "Front Mic" chosen under Properties where I can choose either "Use automatically chosen line" or from among: Line Volume, Front Mic, Mic Volume, or Stereo Mix.
Under Sounds and Audio Devices > Voice > Voice Recording, the only option is "Default Device", which is Realtek HD Audio Input. Under Volume I have Front Mic checked. The "advanced" option is disabled.
Under Master Volume, nothing is muted.
But my voice is not detected. Can anyone help?
