With the CD in the drive, Open Windows Explorer (My Computer) and the select the CD drive. There you should see a file called setup, just double click it and the install should start.

Ok, try to follow these steps and post your results when you are done:

    1: Click START.

    2: Open Control Panel

3: Double Click on Programs/Software (it may say uninstall software)

4: Look for anything that has Microsoft Office in it and uninstall it first.

By doing this you will be uninstalling any versions of Office you may currently have on the computer.

    5: Restart your computer

6: Retry the install for Office Ultimate once the machine has been booted back up.

Let us know how you fair. Hope it works for you.

Is this a factory made CD or is it a copy of a CD?

It sounds like you are missing a file from the installation cd that is required for installation. As asked by DaveA, is this a factory disc or a copy?

    There are various possibilities here:
One of them is that your CD drive doesn't have the region set correctly, and it conflicts with the regional setting on the installation disk. It's worth checking this before trying other, more exotic solutions.

    1. Right click on the drive in My Computer,
select properties, hardware then click on the drive, properties and finally region.

    2. If the region is unspecified, selecting the appropriate one for your area may solve the problem.

Try it, and if it doesn't work, come back to your thread and we'll try something else.
