Running Windows XP
I can type for about a minute in Word when this window drops down

abnormal program termination



This looses what ever I have on the screan

I'm going to move this to the Business Applications forum.

In the meantime I suggest you find the file

normal.dot

And rename it normal.bak

Then reopen Word and see if the problem still occurs. If it does you probably need to do a repair or reinstall of the parent program Microsoft Works.

edit >> I've seen a couple of resolutions for this that involved going to Add/Remove Programs and removing "Microsoft Works Suite Add-in for Microsoft Word".
