I have just purchased the windows xp home addition. I am having problems with it installing the drivers for my modem. can any one help.

check the hcl list and see if the modem is compatible with xp. have you also, instead of using the driver diskette/cd that came with the modem, but just selecting it from the list and installing the xp drivers for it if it is compatible.

if you go to the device manager and select "Update" or "Reinstall Driver" when it asks you whether or not you want to search for a driver or select it from the list, choose select from list. Find your modem's manufacturer and choose your model. If it isn't listed, then xp does not have drivers for it. go out to the modem's manufacturer's website and see if they support xp, as well as try http://www.windrivers.com/ to find drivers. hope this helps.
