    hello all
I am having problem loading MS word 2003. I have windows xp installed, and had office 2003 installed on my PC. It was working fine, but lately it wont load word. it goes to start the application but just hangs there and will not start. I have tried different copies, uninstalled and reinstalled it. i run into same problem every time. when i restart my computer word starts into safe mode and i have used detect and repair from help menu.all other applications ( excel, access, power point ) work except word. I have also tried updating from Microsoft support. I am stuck, any help would be appreciated.thanks

do a search on your system for normal.dot and when you find it, rename it to normal.old

    try to open Word

if it works, and you have no macros or personal changes made to your normal.dot, then simply delete normal.old

    hi
I tried that, but it did not work. i even tried removing office xp from add / remove, and reinstalled another copy, same problem. sometimes word opens and when i want to open a document it says running virus scan, but nothing happens. I disabled firewall, it's not working.

    are you running Norton's AV??

If so, there is an option in the NAV Control Pane to Enable/Disable Office scan. Make sure it is disabled.

I'd also make sure you have cleaned out all the dross in your system, because this could be related to limited resources.
