Just completed a PhD which I want to convert into book format. The format of the PhD is that it is in about 20 word documents with footnotes at the end of each word document. What I want to do is edit it so that I had all of the footnotes together at the end of the book on their own.

Problem is when I try to copy and paste them into a seperate file, they lose their ordering.

Is there a way around it? I'm open to any ideas of merging documents, etc., but I need to keep my footnote order within the chapters.

    Thanks.
